The Lisbon Sports Club Golf Course is situated approximately 20km from Lisbon. Located amidst low hills and valleys, the first nine holes of this rather typical Scottish course, designed by Hawtree & Sons, were inaugurated in 1962. 5 more holes were added later and finally in 1992 this par 69, 18 hole course covering 5,261 meters was completed.

Along most of the course runs a winding water ditch, and although the course is fairly short in length, every hole, all of which set in beautiful natural surroundings, offers a different challenge.

Three holes, 1, 3 and 18, stand out in particular.

Hole 1, the visiting card of the course, is a par 3 measuring 169 meters. The tees are set 10 meters above the level of the green, which in itself is "protected" by four bunkers. Running along the entire right side of the hole is the water ditch.

Another par 3, measuring 176 meters and considered by many as being one of the most attractive holes in Portugal, is hole 3. Set amidst rich green natural vegetation, the tees here are also high above the level of the green and half way along the fairway the frontal water ditch veers to the right to run alongside the green.

Perhaps the biggest challenge to players is hole 18, not only because it is a par 4 covering 417 meters, but also because the water ditch, after crossing it twice, continues to run along the right side up to the green, which itself is "protected" by two bunkers.

The fact that the course is irrigated by its own natural springs means that fairways and greens are always in top condition, and indeed, in this aspect, the LSC course is considered as being one of the best in the Lisbon Region.

Surrounding the course is the "Serra da Carregueirra", an area of beautiful, dense woodland.
The wild flowers, the many species of trees, for example, the eucalyptus, the oak, the laburnum; the small wild animals, rabbits, lizards, birds, partridges, all contribute towards making the hours spent on the course even more agreeable.

And finally, the total inexistence of any real estate bordering on the course bestows upon the Lisbon Sports Club Golf Course an exceptional peace and tranquillity hard to encounter in any other course within the region.
